How about some Club history…

“The organization, hereinafter referred to as the Club, shall be known as the Trans Am Club of America, Dayton Chapter, Inc.”

“The purpose of the Club is to encourage the use and preservation of the Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am.”

These two statements makeup article I and III of the Trans Am Club of America, Dayton Chapter, Inc., Club constitution. Firebird/Trans Am owners and all other interested persons are eligible for memberships.

On October 25th, 1978, the Trans Am Club of America, Dayton Chapter, was officially born. Approximately 30 people attended this first organizational meeting. Officers were nominated and elected.

The Club was incorporated August 10, 1981. Monthly meetings were held the first Sunday of every month at the Moraine Civic Center. Several years later the Club moved its meeting place to the Dayton Airport Hotel and voted to hold meetings BI-monthly. We now meet at the Dayton/Fairborn Holiday Inn.

Activities over the years have included parades, car shows, road rallies, picnics, parties, road trips and a lot of family fun. Being avid car enthusiasts and taking pride in our rides has enabled us to travel and make new friends all over the USA. Early on, most of our members were local, however, we have become international with members all across the country and the world.

An Ohio non-profit organization, the TACADC has donated to many different charities, including the Moraine Civic Center Family Christmas Fund, Greene County Toys for Tots, St. Joseph’s Children Treatment Center and currently, we are supporting A Special Wish Foundation, Inc.

In 1985 the Dayton Club hosted our 1st annual Trans Am Nationals at the Dayton Airport Hotel. With $500 borrowed from the Club treasury, the Nationals Committee went to work, and the rest is history! That year we had 103 cars registered. By 2000, participation grew to an awesome 500 plus, from all parts of the world. In 2009 (our 25th) we moved to the Dayton Marriott Hotel. In 2014 (our 30th) we moved to the Dayton/Fairborn Holiday Inn.

Today our event is one of the largest, all Pontiac shows, in the country. We pride ourselves on being a fun, friendly, family oriented event.
